Before I pop off to the library, have some (short) fanfic. I swear I am addicted to writing Leoben - probably because he is so easy to make poetic, being such a weirdo. I'm sad he didn't get much screentime in 4.5.

I had actually written most of this before I got the Echo/Narcissus inspiration. I hadn't quite realised I'd written a very similar story. Good old Ovid is obviously just the Roman equivalent of Bob Dylan, right?

Title: Echo/Narcissus
Rating: PG
Word count: 558
Pairing/Character: Leoben, Leoben/Kara, Leoben/Six
Summary: Leoben sits by the river and watches.
Spoilers: Daybreak II.

Cross posting to couchpumpkin.

I’ve been on the Battlestar rollercoaster since July 2008, when I inhaled seasons 1-3 at a worrying rate (up to 5 episodes per day). Here was a series that pressed all my buttons: Greek and Roman mythology, political intrigue, an epic sweeping journey, girls with guns, real world analogy, deep philosophical issues…and all of it IN SPACE. I’ve loved it wholeheartedly.
But…
Last week’s finale has engendered a very mixed reaction in me, which is gradually settling into disappointment. Details are after the cut (because you really don’t want to be spoiled for this if you haven’t caught up…or maybe you do?), but please be warned I am going to say some negative things. If you can’t handle that then please move along. I also don’t need patronising. Trust me, I got it. I just didn’t like it. I welcome discussion but I don’t need to be told that I’m too stupid to understand.

I'm not going to lie to you, I really haven't been on board with a few of the plotlines recently. But this episode starting delivering great character and relationship moments by the bucketload which was fantastic and made me feel a little like Christmas. And in the end, if the characters are awesome? I can overlook (most of) the plot flaws.

OMG, BSG is eating my brain. Also I just had a big panic based on a spoilery pic over at scifi and had to go watch the wrap video again to check some spoilery stuff that I had mostly erased from my mind.

Hmm. Strange one this week, but I actually enjoyed a lot of the elements and I think they tied very well together.

Um...

Show is back. Show is more depressing than ever. I love show. Huge, huge spoilers and not very much coherency under here.

I'm actually...pretty happy with that! It justifies the (unfair) cancellation of 'Party Animals', at least. Plus he was completely adorable in that, so I think my powers of psychic pre-Doctor fancying have worked yet again! Okay, there's a little bit of diversity fail there...but then again maybe TPTB were trying to avoid hassle. And I'm sure they chose the best actor for the job.

Now I am greatly, greatly enjoying the rants and rages on t'internet and chuckling to myself. He's young, he's quirky looking, he's got an emo fringe...whatever. If 11+Moff manage to make me love Doctor Who again then they will have achieved a lot, tbh.

*Contented sigh*

In other news...I may have to go back to Oxford far earlier than planned, because I really can't concentrate at home. I need need need to write some thesis. Grumble grumble.
